BC Newcomer Camp is a registered Canadian charity that operates free programming for recently arrived refugee children and youth. By teaching English language skills and a variety of sports and playground games, our immersive and engaging learning environment equips newly arrived refugee children with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in their new home. In the company of peers with common backgrounds and experiences, they are able to learn, grow and develop vital skills that will help them feel at home in Canada.
This year, due to COVID-19, BC Newcomer Camp pivoted programming to an online curriculum providing English language education, online games and activities, sing-a-longs, cooking and nutrition education, and overall support to the children in learning about Canadian culture to be able to integrate into their new home and feel welcomed.
